✨ Why Lumia.Beauty Was Founded ✨

If you’re like me, you’ve probably gone through something like this at some point…

When my skin was doing ‘fine,’ skincare was just another routine — something I did without thinking too much about it.
But when my skin wasn’t fine? Oh, then it became the top thing on my mind and a full-blown research project. I’d fall down the rabbit hole, hunting for the latest and greatest overnight solutions. Sure, I had my go-to’s for hormonal acne from the past, but maybe there’s something newer, something better now…? And so the spiral would begin.

Last year, that lovely milestone known as perimenopause 😳 came knocking — and she brought the trifecta - dryness, wrinkles, and hormonal acne - with her. This time, I knew I needed a more holistic, sustainable solution. Something that would help me step confidently into my 50s — embracing my beauty without relying on injections (no shade if you do — it’s just not my path).

As a Korean-American, I’d heard for years that K-Beauty skincare was ahead of the curve — more effective, more thoughtful. But when I actually tried to dive in? It was overwhelming. Ironically, every Korean person I spoke to who used K-Beauty had different opinions on what was “best.” And none of them seemed 100% sure that what they were using was the best. It was just…what they happened to find. 🤷🏻♀️

So, down the K-Beauty rabbit hole I went. Here’s what I discovered:

I landed on 3–4 massive sites with thousands of Korean skincare products. I filtered, refined, and still ended up staring at 48 water-based cleansers — all claiming to be the holy grail. It was a sea of sameness, and honestly? Paralyzing.

Then I found a couple of smaller, more skincare-focused sites. The product descriptions were a little better — but still repetitive. And the shopping experience? Sketchy.

One site had a janky interface, but I gave it a chance and ordered two products… only to find out (after the purchase was made) it would take 3.5 weeks to arrive. When it finally did? The box looked like it had been on a world tour, stomped on in every country along the way. 😓

The other site? A marketing machine. And as a former Chief Marketing Officer, I was immediately skeptical — everything felt like it was designed for TikTok virality, not real skin solutions.
